We got a comment!

I have been wondering if anyone is reading this blog - It was really exciting to see that we got our first comment! Hooray! Today marks the end of our first trimester. We are planning to celebrate in some way, and in the midst of brainstorming how to celebrate. Since I swore off tea for the first trimester, one present I get to buy myself is jasmine downy pearls tea (it's green so the caffeine levels are safe). I have narrowed down the doctor choices to two, and I know the hospital I'd like to go to. I don't know about anything else. Oh, we did decide that as of today, we will be surprised as to whether I have a little boy or girl growing inside. That may change, but I thought you'd like to know.

Thanks again for the comment, Kim!

Back to the grind!

Oh, by the way, let me preface this entry by saying that on Sunday, we told most of the family that we are pregnant! I think many people were surprised, but many people suspected.

So, I started my new job this week. It is interesting, but I am still definitely trying to find my way. The setup is designed for people to all start work the week before school starts, and so any informational courses were already taught. I have no idea how to run some of the programs, and I feel very ill-prepared. People at both sites are very friendly, and helpful, so hopefully I will catch up soon. In addition, I don't know where I will be providing services at my school site. It is chaotic, but I think it will be a good opportunity. It does not compare to my old job. I miss my old kids and co-workers.

Tomorrow is Friday, and the end of my first work week. Wish me luck!

Home again!

So we're back in San Jose...the road trip was filled with long drives, but on the way we got to see some great people. We stopped in to visit a good friend Nick who has leukemia, and he played some songs on his guitar (when I say his guitar, I mean the one that he made by hand). We planned a sing-a-long/jam session for later this winter.

Iowa was very pretty, but Nebraska was LONG...

Colorado was beautiful as usual, we stayed with Pat and George (the in-laws) in Eagle. We got to play on Heidi's gymnastics equipment (there is a rule - no adults on the gym floor, but since we're kids at heart, I guess it was OK)...

For our last road trip evening, we decided to splurge (with the relocation guidelines of reasonable lodging ang food) and stayed at Mandalay Bay Resort! Due to a housekeeping snafu, not only did we end up upgraded to a 2 bdrm suite with amazing views of Las Vegas, but it actually ended up being our least expensive hotel room for the whole trip (unless you count staying with the McCollums) We couldn't figure out how to turn the lights off, so you'll have to imagine the rest of the view:

When I got home last night, I received a pleasant surprise from MN - a beautiful card from Terri! It was a nice homecoming.
Tomorrow, we get the family together to tell them the big news!
